What is impossible? There are so many things that we think to be unreachable and undoable. It could be anything from living our dream life, travelling the world, becoming successful to having love in our lives.
If at the beginning of 2020 somebody asked us this question, we would definitely have said impossible to everything that really happened. Spending more time at home with our family, having more time for ourselves and working from home: Just a dream. Holding online meetings and teaching kids online: Only in the future. Being separated from our loved ones for the holidays: No way. Not being allowed to travel, to explore, to go shopping: Unimaginable. A giant pandemic dictating our lives: IMPOSSIBLE!
There are so many things we have thought in the past to be impossible which have turned out to be possible. Think of all the inventions, the landing on the Moon, women in the workforce and a lot more. However, for some reason we all believe there are limits to what we can do, we think there are things that are achievable for us and things that are just out of our reach. This could be a promotion, falling in love, becoming rich, starting a business, or even asking someone out on a date and them saying yes. But what if these would all be possible? What if you could make it all happen? If really the only thing that has to change is you being more open to possibilities… You, as each and every one of us, have endless potential, nothing is really impossible for you if you believe you can reach it.
Think of those things that were impossible for you a year ago, 5 years ago, 10 or even 20 years ago! Then think of all the things that became possible! If you think back to your childhood, there was a time when speaking, walking, or even reading seemed out of reach; but you never gave up, you kept trying, kept practicing, you had this inner fire within you that said: “You can do it, because there is no reason why not!”. Unfortunately, as we get older, we start to listen to the people around us instead of listening to ourselves. We start looking towards others and expect them to tell us what is possible for us and what is not. We start to overthink everything, we start to question ourselves and we start to build boundaries around us made out of limiting beliefs and stories we tell ourselves. This is why I would like to ask you now to make a list of those moments in your life where you turned the impossible to possible. It could also be something small (like cooking a meal, baking a cake, or just getting out of bed) but could also be something life changing (like starting your own business, moving to another place, quitting your job to do what you love).
What 31st of December, 2020 proved to all of us was that no matter how good or bad something is, no matter how challenging or hard it seems, it always has an end! We need to keep going, keep learning, keep growing, keep looking forward because one day, no matter the struggles, it will end. As John Lennon said “Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end”. Keep this quote in mind and be grateful for the small moments of joy, bliss and happiness in your daily life that help you though the times when you think everything is impossible.
And finally ask yourself, what do you tell yourself to be impossible for you in 2021? Is it really impossible? Maybe there is a way to manifest it, maybe there is a way to make it happen. Do not listen to what others tell you, believe in yourself, look at the list you just made and see how much you have already achieved! In reality, the only person defining what is impossible for you, is you!
